Martello Tower

The only martello-style tower built in Bermuda, the Martello Tower was built around 1822 to defend St. George's Island in the event that the mainland of Bermuda was lost. The tower, which had fallen into disrepair, was finally renovated in 2008 and is open to the public.

Operating Hours

The fort is open to the public in the summer months, from 10:00am until 2:00pm. You can still access the fort in the winter, but you will need special permission for the Department of Parks.
